I don't know what starter brushes look like, but I think the springs don't 
have to be original or old.  They just have to fit and produce a reasonable 
tension.  Last year I repaired a $2 yard-sale electric drill by carving 
too-long brushes to shape and buying springs from the hardware store.  It 
works fine.
