The answer to this problem is simple.  I have a Facet on my 1968.  Well....
The car is completely stripped at the moment, but it WAS on there.  Same
situation.  Need a right angle to reach the metal fuel line.  Solution.  VW
fuel line - about a foot of it. Make a loop of it.  Bingo.  The ends of the
coil are 90 degrees apart.  Hose clamps at each end. No leaks, no bother,
everything works.
