I read on the Internet (source of all knowledge) that an individual
can test for the presence of ethanol in gasoline by filling a test
tube with water halfway (put a mark on the tube at the top of the
water). Then add gasoline. If the gasoline contains ethanol then the
level of the water will go up as the alcohol combines with the water.
In my test there was no change in the level so presumably there is no
ethanol in the gasoline I am using for my lawn mower. This gasoline
came from a Speedway station which I believe is affiliated with
Marathon somehow. My "test tube" is plastic and the gasoline did fog
the plastic. I've been using Shell gasoline in my Sprite. Anyone
else ever try this?
