I have a couple of watches with the tritium tubes. As I understand they
have a fluorescent compound on the inside surface of the glass and are
filled with tritium. They aren't as bright as a good dive watch with
good lume, but the tritium tubes glow all night and the normal lume will
gradually darken over a few hours. The tubes are less than 1mm
diameter, I can only guess what kind of machine it takes to manufacture
them. I've read that the radiation in the tubes is very low powered and
doesn't even penetrate the thin glass.
