If you use a debit card you are spending YOUR money. If you use a credit card
you are spending the CREDIT CARD COMPANY's money. Same thing if someone gets
unauthorized access to your card. Do you want to risk YOUR money or someone
else's money?
Years ago someone got my wifes debit card number and drained her bank account.
She hardly used the card and never did figure out how they got it. The debit
card company eventually did put the money back, but it took awhile and they of
course have their big paragraph of fine print so YMMV. I like it a lot better
when the charges show up in a statement and we can dispute them before we have
to send payment.
