Did anybody see my listing here of UK motor museums ?
or did I waste my
time ?
Spent the week fitting an electric (72 midget ) rev counter
into the
Frogeye, refitting headlamps and new dipswitch - works great now
the
wire smoke damaged wires been replaced. New ign. switch and new bulbs
and wiring for all instruments, much easier to do with steering wheel
removed and dashboard out, fitted a new felt bush in steering column.
Removed
the ground wires running from the plastic headlamp shells to
the fibre glass
bonnet - don't know what they were for !
Then,
Had a great ride in the
frogeye this weekend 100 mile round trip both
days, to Donington historic
car racing. (try googling it ) 65 mph at
4500 rpm (speedo said 105 mph ) GPS
disagreed !
Did a few laps in the car on Sunday (along with MGBs,
ETypes, Ferrari
Dino's etc ), 7-8 frogeyes and a some midgets turned out
for a sunny
but windy excellent couple of days racing. (pre WW2 grand prix
cars
bentleys Bugattis Talbots and a very pretty MG , LEMans cars , a big
grid odpre 70 formula 2 cars etc etc etc great noisy racing - like it
used
to be !
Oh and its not just spridgets that break halfshafts , an Aston
Martin
lost a wheel at Redgate corner, the driver asked the marshels if they
would retrieve the brake shoes from the kitty litter - I have photos
Alan
Warwick UK.
