My 400hp CTS-V will run on regular and never complain a bit or otherwise give any indication that it is running on regular. I've read arguments that said the car would get better mileage running premium because of the ignition timing, and I tried running premium for several thousand miles. I've kept records of the mileage for every tank of gas since I got it and I could not tell any difference in premium vs. regular. I would not be surprised if 1/4 mile times would be different but I don't ever plan to find that out. > To my understanding, these cars don't "require" premium, they only > "recommend" it for best performance. If you use regular gas, the knock > sensors will retard the spark and your performance will suffer. |
