Hello Rick,
Please include my name on behalf of the Midwest Austin-Healey Club.
I have not yet responded to the sad news of Frank's untimely passing.
Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to meet Frank. I was not able to
attend the two Sprite meets in 2008. I only knew him through the list and
what others that I have met said about him.
>From what I can conclude, he was a very passionate person: passionate about
his family, passionate about Spridgets, passionate about people who also
love Spridgets, passionate about life, and last but certainly not least,
passionate about this country and what it means and stands for. He was an
outspoken spokesperson for all of these things. It is good that there are
people like that who can cut though the BS and tell it like they see it and
usually be right.
I did not even know Frank, but I have been sad this week because someone so
young and vibrant was taken away from the many people who loved him. We
realize the loss for so many that he cared for. But, I think what we must
realize is not what was taken away, but what he left behind, the true spirit
of Frank. Many have mentioned and talked about his "giving forward"
philosophy and what he did for other people, not what he expected in return,
but what he expected for others to do for the next person. By his example,
that should and will continue in his memory.
We can honor Frank, Paul, and others who have helped make this hobby
important in our lives, doing this by working on, driving, and enjoying
these cars as much as we can. We have to take time for this because we
found out this week it can all be taken away before we get a chance to work
on that project we have been putting off.
For those of you in New Jersey, I am sure the "Frank stories" will be sweet
amid the laughter and tears, but a fitting salute of a few toots on Spridget
horns at the end of services tomorrow is proper, even in the solemnity of a
cemetery. Imagine Frank's big smile at that.
God speed, Frank. There are no speed limits in heaven.
With kind regards,
Neil Anderson
