>> On the way home Saturday nite, I got a call. Kristi is in trouble. Her car
is back at the "bucking" as she called it.
>>
>> I had to back track 30 min to find her on Rt 9. Her car is surging, not
bucking.
>> -- I rode in it for a few and then lead the 40 mph caravan back to my
place.
>>
>> As best as I can describe it acts like it is getting fuel for a minute
(surge) the just quits for a second (bucks). If over 40 - 45 mph, it starts
backfiring, with flame and everything from the tail pipe.
>>
>> The idle and carbs have been played with til the cows came home, We had the
2 best OSHITers available working on it today. ANd then on the way home it
screwed up.
>>
>> If I had to guess I have two hypotheses.
>>
>> 1) partially blocked exhaust (works fie at idle, runs crappy at partial ->
full throttle)
>>
>> 2) Fuel pump not delivering enough. it gets some to idle on, then cant
deliver enough to run on at higher RPM. so it starves the carbs for a second
(bucks) and the refills them ( surge).
>>
>> As best as I understand the valves are adjusted and the carbs are tuned (If
you doubt Frank and Kevin, tell them, not me)

>> Ideas, Wild Assed Guesses, Anything?? all welcome!!

Since all of this the dizzy has been changed out with another dizzy and we
lost spark. "New" dizzy was 180 degrees out so wires were changed. Put the
"old" dizzy back in and wires switched back and still no spark.
