Well if you keep on going one step forward and two back, you may want to hold
onto the midget flywheel and clutch since they will end up back in the car.
Good luck,
Steve

Subject: [Spridgets] Morriservice 5-speed installation issues. WARNING:
Spridget content.
I am trying to get my engine (1275) and Datsun transmission into FROG AYE
but am experiencing some difficulties. With the motor and tranny on the
mounts two things happen that shouldn't:
1. The bleeder screw is bang-up against the left frame rail. Actually, it
would be but I am using a banjo bolt ended hose to have a remote bleeder and
the bolt is touching the frame rail. I see no way to move the tranny to the
right to increase clearance above zero.
2. The replacement yoke that came with the kit has the zerk fitting on the
end of one of the cups. When the engine is mounted correctly the zerk
fitting hits the top of the transmission tunnel with sufficient interference
that it is not really possible to rotate the drive shaft by hand. This
could be solved by using a u-joint with the zerk in a more normal position,
but that is not what I have. Can those of you with experience with Paul's
5-Speed conversion kits offer any suggestions? General derision expected
from the rest of you (well, not everyone!)
Every part of this operation has been a one step forward, two steps
backward proposition and all I want to do is get the thing together so I can
drive it. I should have never bought Vizard's book! Weather in the 60s
this week, it's only gonna get better 'till it's too damn hot to drive a
Spridget, and I still have to sort out the carbs, ignition, get tires, and
deal with a weirdness in the front suspension.
