I think the unions played a big part in the demise of the auto
industry in the US.
In many ways, their greed helped force makers to go international.
Somewhere between slave labor wages and union pay scales should lie a
happy medium.
But, finding the medium is difficult, if not impossible.
Also, many Americans think "land of opportunity" means that if they
don't want to work, then the government will give them everything for
free.
Some of these same Americans think the government should run
everything and offer "bailouts" to companies that can't generate
profits.
I understand why companies are seeking better places to do business.
Brazil is where they kept making the VW Beetle into the 1990s, IIRC,
long after it was no longer available new in the US.
