If you really wanted to (and I don't!) you could always calculate the thermal
profile as the table gives you the resistance and current carrying capacity for
each gauge..
But then you'd have to research the thermal properties of the insulation ;-((
ROT If it gets hot to the touch, then you need to go up a few sizes,,

The only thing the chart doesn't take into consideration is type of
insulation and if enclosed in raceway or open air.
