I bought mine a long time ago. Maybe 2000-2002 time frame. So it was
probably
their early design.
The trigging input to the MSD unit I built is fairly benign, its a 50 ohm
resistor to
+12volts. That is much less current than if the Pertronix was normally
connected
to the coil. So it's not like it was under any stress.
So I really think it was the ground wire in the distributor breaking that
took out the Pertronix.
Others running these should check that wire. It's a 50 year old wire and it
just fatigues with age.
