The NAPA tube is made by Kenda. Nice, thick, tough rubber.
The Moss tube says ISO9000 on it. Certified crap, I guess.
It failed where the valve stem is fused to the tube.
I did not pinch it. The rubber is real thin at that spot
and it just split. It did this 10 minutes after I had filled
it up with air when bounced the wheel on the ground.
I understand the Classico tubes from the UK are the best thing going, but
they are a little pricey at $60 a tube.
I think that Kenda tube from NAPA is a good bargain.
Some have mentioned that Pep Boys carries tubes.
The one near me only carries 14/15/16 inch tubes, and they were out of those
so I couldn't even look at them to see what the quality was like.
I found a Dunlop Duraseal in one of the used wire wheels that I purchased
and it looks to be of excellent quality. But I don't think they are
available any more.
My only problem now is that I have three of those Moss tubes already
installed into the other three wheels on the car. The only thing I can
think is to take the car on a long highway cruise and torture test it to see
if there is any infant mortality. Even then I will never have a happy
feeling in my tummy when I take the car on a long trip.
Wait a sec...I never have had a happy feeling in my tummy when I've taken
this car on a long trip. But before this tube issue popped up I was getting
pretty close!
