Welcome to the group. These fellows and gals are real helpful, if you can
see thru the inside jokes and all.
My advice is to be sure you have fuel filters in there before going any
further. If nothing else, a see-through fuel filter can tell you where the
gas is; also, the filters will not usually fill all the way up so don't
panic if you see air in there.
These are the two filters I prefer for car work; I'm in the US but this is a
Brit site.

The glass one can be taken apart and cleaned; it'll catch the big stuff.
The little one catches everything else and is thrown away periodically.
I use them together; the glass one closer to the tank, although the physical
location can be in the engine compartment.
The plastic one is closer to the carb.
Also, you may have to prime the system; fuel pumps do better with gas than
with air.
