Nah, Frank. This effect is all in your head. There is really nothing
wrong. Its just the situation that makes your mind think you hear
something.... Especially when you start to run over the directions for
ditching in the water in your head while you fly. Same thing when you are
riding a 50 year old motorcycle across the middle of nowhere. I swear you
can actually hear the wheel bearings moving and every stroke of the pistons
and click of the tappets and valves....
