On most carbureted cars I have driven in the past, the press and release
on the gas pedal was to release the choke cam to close the automatic
choke.
Since you have a manual choke, and no trouble starting, I'd say it's
unnecessary.

Subject: [Spridgets] Weber DGV question
The set-up is a '76 1500 Midget with a 32/36 DGV ( manual choke)...
The Usual starting routine - ignition on, fuel pump running, bit of
choke..
My question is, assuming the DGV has an enrichment pump, should I
press and relelase the gas pedal prior to or while cranking the
engine??
