Not so.
As David Booker stated, it makes a lot of sense to a gear head - as much
sense as restoring a Bugeye to original specs. You go out and get the
smallest car you can find. Then you cram into it the biggest engine you can
figure out a way to fit. That is a major challenge and a real
accomplishment for a gear head - something to be proud of. It doesn't
matter if it can drive anywhere. That's not the point. It is a display of
skill.
People like us who are a little whacky should understand that they are a
little whacky and not be overly critical of others who are a little whacky
about something different.
