Short story for Mr. Johnson: A few days ago I got an email from
someone supposedly in Paypal security, saying they had tried to call
my number and had blocked my Paypal debit card and would I call this
number.... Went online. Nope, not paypal's number. Sent the raw
source email off to spoof@paypal.com. Later went to the P.O. and
found my card refused. Went home, called customer service. Long
hold, big runaround, got an agent. Couldn't find any problem. Please
call security at xxx-xxxx. Yup, same number as on the email. More
hold, got an agent. Wanted my card number. I said no. He couldn't
find me anywhere in the system, and I finally caved and gave the card
number. Yes, they blocked my card. They had tried to call my phone
no. from 5 years ago. Had no current info. Got it all squared away,
chewed on his ear, hung up. Got an email from Paypal spoof the next
day saying the email, which had turned out to be real, was indeed a
spoof, and they would track it down!
Paypal shows none of the signs of a well-run company!
