I was "allowed" to buy a car (my money except for sales tax) after I got a
decent paying job in college that used my education that was far enough that
walking wasn't an option. Using the education was key to any privilege in my
house. No insult intended, but if I came home with a 3.5 GPA, I'd have been
thrown out of the house.
