We once voted out a provincial government that put in speed cameras and 
replaced them with one that promised ( and kept their word ) to remove them. 
  ( Obviously not the only issue, but it was a prominant one. )  We do have 
red light cameras at high accident intersections though.  And, they put up 
signs warning that there is a camera at the intersection so their motive 
doesn't appear to be a money grab.
