When I wondered if my AR Silverstones were true Magnesium, I chipped a tiny piece off the back and hit it with a mini butane torch. If it is Magnesium, you'll know it when it ignites, it burns hot. Light or not I don't know if I'd want to lose a tire going fast with them. For crack detection, try the dye stuff.
