Dave,
Neither did I say you're superior, or that I in any way feel inferior. But
you do take a superior tone with your remarks, and, opinions, being what
they're worth, are likely to side with me on that (based on the 10 or so
private mails I've got in response).
Having said that, you're still my friend, and welcome here any time.
WST
(and all my gay friends... both real, and pretending... on the gay part,
that is)

And that was one of the primary motivations for the Miata as well, so you
seem to be contradicting yourself again. In fact, there are many valid
comparisons between the Sprte and the Miata. No, they are not the same.
Yes, the Miata benefits from the existence of the Sprite as well as from
a whole lot of technology developed since. No, they did not throw a V8
into the Miata; does that make it gutless? Perhaps. It is still fun to
drive.
Sure they gave it independent rear suspension, 4-wheel disk brakes, a
synchro on first gear and a fifth (and sixth on some) gear to say nothing
of complying with the current safety regulations. It might not be as great
as an Elan, although I doubt that anyone would dispute that Elan ownership
is not for the faint of heart, but it is significantly better than an MGB in
stock
form. The Miata has been an affordable top-down sportscar for over 15
years now. You cannot perceive its soul, but there are plenty of other
people
who can.
