I've been using sand from the local concrete
block plant. It comes in 50 pound bags and looks
like the stuff that you once saw in ash trays
beside elevators, etc. Very uniform in size and
does come in fine and coarse grit. Of course
there's the silica problem - just bundle up and
wear your personal protection gear.
