Listers - Stock 948 A series engine: bores honed, new rings in, head back on,
almost ready to reinstall. First question: I would like to use a bilge pump
to hand pump oil throughout the engine oil routes while the pan is still off to
make sure everything is lubricated as well as possible before I start it up.
What is the best way to do this? Second question: What is the proper break-in
procedure to properly set the rings? A friend says to start the engine cold,
take it to 2000 rpm right away and let it run there for 20-30 minutes, but I
trust you guys over him any day. What is the best way to break it in? By the
way, I have never tried spotted dick, christmas pudding, triffle, or even fish
and chips, and I dislike pickled onions and mince pie. But I'll give the UK
credit for one delicacy - stout. Give me a pint (or two or three) of Guinness
any day (Newcastle in a pinch). Doug ....o~'o
