Oil canister...

Looking at the oil canister (bolt on type) I notice that it is canted 
at about 30 degrees to the rear..

Question #1: Is that correct for a '65 Mk III? 

Question #2: Would it be best to 
a) just get a spin-on adaptor from Mo$$ or VB?, or 
b) scrounge a factory spin-on oil filter fitting from someone on the 
list? or
c) leave well enough alone?
