Harder steel is more brittle, in general. Best to get something VERY hard and drill the center out of whatever is stuck in the hole. Start small and build up to the minor diameter of the thread pitch of the original hole. If you stay centered you will eventually see evidence of threads. When you do, stop drilling and try prying what's left out with a small pick. If you bugger the threads up you can always use a Heli Coil insert to make it good. |
