Yep. As I said, worked for me too, Frank.
But depends on the tire. Those I used were
Dunlap "65" or "85" (forgot which) in size
175/70. Max load inflation pressure was
32 or 35 psi. They were a very "hard riding"
tire with stiff sidewalls, even at
normal pressures of 22F/24Rpsi cold.
According to Billy, the HTR 200 has relatively soft sidewalls (like the 60
Series
Yoko 008R's I ran on my PO'd '74 Spridget) and the HTR 200 max inflation load
pressure is 50psi +. Differently constructed tire than the Dunlap I used (and
the Yoko also whose max inflation load press = 32-35psi, not the 50+ of the HTR
200).
Put the Dunlap "outside" the rim and it supports itself well with respect to
sideloads...and at "normal" inflation pressures as well 'cause it's got stiff
sidewalls.
Not so with Yoko which has softer sidewalls
and thus has more of a tendency to "roll under" under such unless higher
inflation pressures are used to "firm up" the sidewalls.....which can make for
one rough ride, along with accelerated
wear and tear on bearings, suspension parts, etc., on anything but smooth, even
surfaces.
Billy says the HTR 200's have a soft sidewall (like the 008's) and he oughta
know 'cause he's running 'em and no one else running 'em has thus far
disagreed. So..... :)
