What kind of noise are you talking about? The 4.22 I have has a sound
almost like wind noise around the windhield or mirrors.
I can't describe it better than that but I think it's the diff. Off
throttle it stops.
By the way what type of noise does a bad rear wheel bearing make?

I mean does anyone KNOW Differentials?
I am accumulating a pile of noisy diffs, mostly 4.22s.
The one from the 58 (original) was so noisy I had to replace it at about the
50 mile mark. So why is it noisy?
Bearings? I can't see any wear but then what am I looking for?
Teeth mesh nice, no marks.
Backlash? I tried reading up on diff repair but I would rather read the
latest tax laws, they seem a bit more simple.
I believe I have a new ring and pinion from my latest parts score, but it's
just a ring and pinion.
Is replacing the ring and pinion along with new bearings something I can do
on my workbench with a BFH, grinder, drill and a few wrenches?
Anybody in the diff repair business? Need a job or 2?
