I have been a member of this list for ~15 years. However, Digest #3506
was full of some extraordinarily poor taste stuff. The sad thing is
that the MAJORITY of the digest was composed of this cr*p. I don't care
which side of the fence you sit politically, the stuff thrown out in the
Airline Fun thread was not LBC oriented, not in good taste, and it went
on far too long. I could argue either side of the fence very easily, I
don't care if you like or dislike Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, George
W. Bush or Captain Kangaroo. At least make some vain attempt to have
something automotive related to the posts, I don't mind the cats or guns
threads as they were tenuously related to cars if you go back far enough
in the multi-year threads. I did care if the list turns to flamebait
and trolling for its discourse. I did not want to unsubscribe from the
list after 15 years, but gosh that digest and the subsequent flaming of
MY post (but not of the truly offensive material) has really put me over
the edge.
To those that say I should vigorously exercise the delete key, I surely
do and have, far more than I would like. I did not want to get into the
regular habit of not reading the digest. When this happens, I might as
well just not receive it. In fact, this will be my last post as I'll be
unsubscribing for the first time ever, for at least a few months. If I
don't miss the list, I will not be back.
To those that chose to shoot the messenger vs. listen to the message,
Wow, you guys really represent the list well. There were some comments
that I would have expected from surly pre-teens, not adults. I guess
that wanting to have actual LBC/automotive/racing content and not
wanting to receive 15 individual messages vs. a single email means that
I'm a leech. That was really uncalled for.
To those that commented to me privately, I appreciate the support. I
hope that you will comment on the list more often and make it a better
place.
Think about it guys! Is this list for Spridgets and automotive related
topics or not? I can understand some off topic stuff, but not to the
extent in those posts or the truly unbelievable response to my simple
request to get off bad political diatribes and onto something more
suitable. There are tons of places to troll for political flames, I
just expressed a desire to limit discussion a bit and not to taint this
list. I don't want to chase off a single Spridget owner or interested
LBCer, I want every Spridget owner and LBCer that I can get to have as a
resource when needed. The kind of 'banter' seen in Airline Fun was not
'fun' and really does not serve the interest of the list IMHO. Maybe
I'll be back in a few months, maybe not. I used to be such a big fan of
this list, now I'm just p*ssed off that the true colors of some frequent
posters are not so rosy.
I will miss the posts of Frank (amazing resto of that Bugeye), Daniel in
Australia, Peter, Ron, Bill, and many others. The amazing knowledge and
warmth of these good people may bring me back yet. But gosh this really
has left me with a bad taste...
