I took the 58 out for it's maiden voyage today. Put about 10 miles on it
in the 25* weather. There were a couple of minor adjustments like the
clutch needed an adjustment on the length of the rod which is adjustable
on the Datsun. No more clutch slip. A leaky float all fixed, and a minor
adjustment to locate the rear axle a bit better but I sort of knew that
was coming.
Everything works, I even went to get gas and the gauge works.
Temp never climbed above 160* OP never dropped below 40 psi at idle.
Cable driven tach seems to be acurate, speedo is darn close.
I had to adjust the horn from it's meep meep to a much louder BEEP BEEP
(original horn too) and I think I need to change the diff, it's a singer
but it was the original diff from the 58. I have others.
I did put the mirror on the windshield post after the pic was taken.
The only thing missing is the washer bottle.
Ok so I still need a top but only for those trips to Carlisle every year
when we just know it's gonna rain. But I am awaiting word on a red top
for a 9 stud windshield.
4 months from rusted out to restored.
