List,
I tried to make an exhaust tailpipe sniffer (to help with adjusting carbs)
out of a four wire O2 sensor and an AutoMeter Air/Fuel ratio gauge.
I was using a four wire sensor because they have a heater in them to get
them up to operating temp (that is required because the exhaust is too cool
by the time it reaches the tailpipe).
I tested it on a '96 BMW 318ti and a '04 Honda and the problem I am having
is (I think) the O2 sensor is getting too hot so it goes off the lean end of
the scale.
Does anyone know if the ECU in a modern car has a way to regulate the temp
of the O2 sensor heater?
Suggestions?
Thanks,
