Got the carbs to quit sticking. Think it was the little washer between the
jet assembly and the arm. Had it arranged wrong and the arm was causing it
to bind. Thanks for all the help.
So reinstalling it now. I remember when taking it out I made a note to hook
up both cables (choke and pedal) before mounting it and torgue it down.
However, I wasn't so bright as to remember how exactly those two exposed
pieces of cable screw down to their respective assemblies.
The pedal connects to that screw and little C-clamp thing on the back/inner
side.
And the choke connects to the screw with the two washers on the front/ outer
side.
But, even when I look at my old pics....it just looks like I would just
thread the cable betwixt the washers and torque down the screw. Same goes
with the C-clamp thing. Thread the cable bewteen the c-clamp and the screw.
That really looks slipshod though. Does that sound right at all ?
I also gotta wonder about the amount of tension that should be on the gas
pedal cable once mounted. In theory I would think it would mount up with the
spring on the heat shield just taught and the cable taught as well - neither
straining.
But when looking back at my reference pics it looks like I got the cable in
there pretty lengthy. Maybe that would explain my previous difficulty in
getting the RPMs down below 1100+ at idle.
Any idea on the cable screw connection method......
