The reason the commercially available kit does NOT use the T5 is because it
is so tall. This gearbox will NOT fit inside the prop tunnel of the Spridget
without a lot sheet metal welding and fabrication work.
The bellhousing is made from the bellhousing section of the Spridget box with
a flat plate welded to the back.
I can't imagine a good reason for using this gearbox unless it works out
cheaper and it's only going to do that if you can spend the time on the
fabrication work.
As far as a racing conversion goes you might as well buy a 4 or 5 speed Ford
box with close ratio or straight cut gears and buy a bellhousing to the job a
lot more neatly and without all that fabrication.
