Thanks to all for your help. I see the problem now is the wires need to be
connected between the two plastic isolation washers and not placed on top of
them with a nut holding them down. Gee a direct short results. Now that I know
the problem it will be simple to fix and replace. Thanks once again.
Also an update on my issue with sticking throttle after replacing gas pedal.
Turns out the J shaped bracket that snaps onto the gas pedal was bent about 25
degress off center from when it should be. When it was positioned at right
angles to the rod that attaches to the footwell as it would be in normal
operation, the part that snaps into the gas pedal was offset by over an inch.
Although it would snap into place and allow a connection, the J shaped rod was
binding up. A little work with the vise and lubrication of the points when the
arm attaches to the footwell and problem was resolved. Thanks agaion to the
list for quick problem resolution.
