OK, let me fill you all in on today's experience in the continuing saga of
my first order from AH Spares.
I originally sent my order in on-line on Oct. 24th. Their website said
delivery could be expected in 3-5 days. Let's give the benefit of the doubt
and assume those are working days rather than calendar days. Remember these
dates.
After a rather poor customer service experience, I sent three emails to
them, the last of which found it's way to Jonathan Hill -- their General
Manager. Now, I must admit that Mr. Hill went out of his way to make things
right. For this, I am grateful and give him and AH Spares credit.
Since then, I received a call from their shippers, BAX Global, who informed
me that I would need to pay a $75 fee and drive 180 miles round-trip to pick
up my order, which I had already paid to have delivered to my door. This
fee, evidently, was for bringing the package from Chicago, where it came
into the country, to Milwaukee, where they wanted me to come pick it up.
An email to Mr. Hill at AHS got the $75 fee wiped out and the package to be
delivered to my door. I don't know if AHS ate the $75 or told BAX to stick
it where things don't grow. I'm not sure I care, either.
Then, after one ridiculous requirement after another, I still didn't receive
my package and called to inquire as to where in the hell it is. Well, now
they say Customs wants to tear the package open and inspect it. OK, fine.
Just get on it and get my effing parts here.
Today I got a call saying I need to pay another $63 to some outfit who runs
a warehouse where the package was delivered so that Customs could examine
it. This is a one day examination of a box of auto parts in a big
warehouse. For $63 I could rent a whole GD storage unit for a month and a
half. And since when do US citizens have to pay to have their property
examined by Customs? Do you sense that Larry is getting a little pissed
off? He is.
So I paid the $63 (and required a receipt) because I am so GD sick and tired
of this BS that I just don't care anymore. Actually, that isn't true. I do
care, but I will do my real blow up AFTER getting my parts in my hot little
hands.
Will I deal with AH Spares again? Because of the testimonials of people on
this list that I respect, like Buster and others, and the fact that most of
this wasn't their fault, I will give them a second chance. I will assume
that I just got every bad experience possible all rolled up into one
package, but they had better get their shippers straightened out because
this was just a real BS experience.
Remember the Oct. 24th order date? Today is Nov. 20th and I don't have my
parts. I will inform the list of the end result of this fiasco.

Hay Buster, I beleive you and your answer makes sense.
Just recomputed over 50% saveing if I did it right. Take off 17.5 % for vat,
convert to $ at 1.9, plus shipping of course but it can not be that out of
sight.
Thanks guys for all the great advise, Miss Agatha really appreciates it. Me
too.
