Okay, I drove the bugeye about 4-5 weeks ago. She ran great. I had
tuned the carbs mid-summer. I neglected her a bit as the weather
began to get cooler and I was absorbed in Big Healey restoration.
Today, I put up the soft top and fastened the side curtains to go for
a little countryside ride.
She started right up with the choke and ran as normal. After warm up,
I hopped in to go for a spin. She badly sputtered, stumbled and
hicupped (carb backfiring) around the block. Fuel delivery seems
fine, continues to run fine with the richer (choke applied) mixture
but wont idle properly and starts missing when throttle is applied,
crane electronic ignition seems fine.
Before I go adjusting carbs again, which I really dont want to do
because I did have them dead on, are there any suggestions from the
list? Maybe she just didnt like being neglected, or perhaps the top
and side curtains did it!
Suggestions on how to proceed?
