Go back and read the poem again, Jim! Your description of the place sounds 
like a very appropriate setting for "The Cremation of Sam McGee"!

If anyone has driven that stretch in an LBC, it would probably be Barney 
Gaylord in his long-suffering MGA ;-) He drove it to Alaska a few years 
back... only person I know who thinks Texas is on the way from CHicago to 
Alaska.
