I ran wires in a steel wheel axle on a few different Sprites, all with
1275s.
Yes the wire axle is 3/8" SHORTER than the steel wheel axle.
But they engage into the diff gear by 1-1/2" Or should I say the wire
axles will engage by 1-1/8" instead of 1-1/2" Not a big deal and I never
had any problems with the axles.
Stripping out hubs or wheels is a whole nother story ;)
Racing or autocrossing on wires might cause a problem but if you race or
autocross, you are already used to problems. :)
