Hello Lester,

       the heat from around the rubber bellows thing...

       i have a 5 speed (paul a's installation) and just had a boot
       over the shifter... again the heat POURED out of there.. (was
       driving in seattle when the temp was over 95 degrees.. no THAT
       is rare).. .. then i got a trim ring from a 1500 and sealed the
       boot down.... again.. problem solved.. do you have a ring?
