... I'm helping someone change a tranny in a 1098. Reason he's
tackling this is it jumped out of 3rd, and the clutch was always "funny".
This is in a supposedly "restored" 63 Midget.
Findings:
Hypoy oil was in the tranny.
Slave pushrod was lengthened an inch or so.
Ah ha. 948 release bearing with 1098 clutch!
Wallowed out fork pivot bushing.
Bent fork pivot bolt.
All being fixed as we type.
While we're in there things we will do:
Replace 16ga ground "strap" with a ground strap.
Wash the engine bay a bit.
More details likely to follow.
