Converting from wires to steel wheels?

Can I use the front suspension and brakes and just change hubs?
 
I know I have to change the axle housing, but are the rear drum brakes the  
same?
 
What is the largest size steel wheel and tire size for a square arch? (I  
know I just asked this for wires, but hoping for a better answer with steel  
wheels)
 
Does a 1500 tranny mate with a 1275?
