I replaced the cables maybe last winter or the winter before when it
dipped below 40.
This year it was the solenoid. I thought maybe bad contacts heating up
after a few seconds of cranking. No so, the new solenoid (NOS Lucas
orange box) seemed to make a difference but it must have warmed up to 42
by the time I finished the solenoid install back in Nov.
It will spin freely and crank fine any day in the Spring, Summer, and
early Fall. it's the magical 40* that it doesn't like.
It will fire right up with a jump every time. But by the time I get a
Sprite or truck out to it to jump it, why bother? the other vehicle is
already running. Every Sprite starts in any temp. I know these cars
inside and out and the A40 is a Sprite Saloon, same everything except a
non removable hardtop and a funky boot lid.
