I have had the newest project MG home for 6 nights now.
A 69 Midget.
After some refitting of what the PO did, sticking some doors back on it
because his idea of step over a lower solid non opening door just wasn't
feasible.
I have made the bonnet a forward tilt using parts of the stock sissors
bonnet hinges.
I altered the rear end quite a bit to accept the Austin 1800 Land Crab
NOS tail lamps I have had forever.
Moved the gas fill location. Now where did I put that Jaguar XJ6 filler cap?
Gutted the doors so they will be open inside like a Bugeye/MKII.
I stuck a windshield on it because those aeroscreens barely came up to
the top of the steering wheel. No bugs in my teeth.
I also removed the door locks and handles and smoothed out those bumps
on the doors.
The back end where the tail light bulges were are now rounded over to
make a nice round looking rear end. Besides, I had to do something to
make those Land Crab lamps look like they belonged ;)
Louvers are cut in on what was the front fenders, but the bugeye nose is
now sort of clam shelled so it needed something on that large flat
surface, so it has functional louvers.
All the welding is done, some fiberglass work is done, but lots of bondo
and sanding in the coming weeks.
BTW, I am not posting any pictures of this car until it's finished.
I may still french in the license plate holder, remote door latches,
maybe a remote electric boot lid, I have too many kids giving me ideas ;)
What I started with can be seen here.......
