    Long shots:  Don`t forget to check the ground wire under the distributor
plate. I have heard of circumstances where the flimsy wire will fray, short
out as the advance opens, then go back to Ok at idle.  Moss supplies a
replacement. Of course it`s not easy to get at.  Also I once had a muffler
(not LBC) that collapsed internally. It looked fine from the outside, but the
back pressure caused the car to run nasty on hard acceleration.
