Sure, Bill....
Colortune will certainly help you set correct
idle mixture but remember, unlike the SU
wherein the amount of fuel at idle can be
varied with an already set amount of air at any given rpm (no load) via the
SU's mixture adjustment nuts, the screws on your Weber do not adjust mixture
"strength"....they simply adjust
the "volume" of what the chosen idle jet is
putting out, considering it's a "calibrated"
part.
Nevertheless, it you can adjust the volume
screws to give you a "blue" flame, you're
off to a good start as far as the idle is
concerned. This having been said, this
"volume" setting may or may not be the
best volume setting for "progression",
considering there is a "low" and "upper"
end to the idle circuit, just as there is to the main circuit.
The difference between these circuits is.....
while the main circuit has individual jets
for fuel and air, inserted in opposite ends
of the chosen emulsion tube, the idle circuit provides pre-calibrated holes for
fuel/air by individual idle jet. IOW, the mixture "strength" can only be varied
by
changing to different idle jet, with different
size pre-calibrated aperatures for fuel and
air.
Was this carb kit "specific" to the 1500 engine state of tune in YOUR vehicle??
