Robert, you keep saying it. Wiggling wires and everything works means you have
a bad connection or a bad ground. I had problems with the Lucas fuse box in my
'77 Midget. Everything went dead, bump the fuse box and everything came back
on. I replaced it with a Littelfuse spade type fuse box with 5 fuses (for one
extra circuit that I used for the headlights). A coupla bucks at Pep Boys.
My old fuse box had corrosion on the fuse contacts. Make sure there is no
corrosion on the fuse wires or connectors. It you see ANY green on the
connectors, replace them. Follow the wires to the next connectors and clean
them. You can use TV tuner cleaner (Radio Shack) and a small wire brush, or
just replace the connectors, making sure to cut the wire back to clean, shiney
wire. If you reuse the old connector, squeeze it a bit with needlenose pliers
so it is tight.
You can use a little Vaseline on the connectors to prevent further corrosion
from forming.
Grounds must be connected to non-rusty points. Remove the ground screws, wire
brush til shiney, put them back in, coat with Vaseline. It takes a while, but
eventually everything will work reliably.
