The rubber ones are softer and allow for
more "flex" and are therefore easier on
the suspension and body at the expense
of "tighter" handling.
However, an offlist discussion with David
reveals his are prothane as opposed to
polyurethane. What the difference(s) are
between the two (if any), I do not currently
know but I am checking into this further.
I am currently using offset nylatron upper
bushings in the FRONT end for a little negative camber. Having used poly before
in this application on previous Spridgets, I can vouch for the nylontron seem
softer.
For sure, they are free of "creaking" and
are soundless, unlike my experiences with
the poly-type preceeding.
David also advises the prothane types come
in 3 different hardnesses, by color. Blue, orange and red were mentioned I
believe.
I will check into this with Jon Peters of Sports & Classics and get back to the
list
with any information I can gather on the
foregoing. May not be 'til Monday afternoon though. Got a starting problem
with the GTi which must be addressed today first, before I get on to other
activities today.
Once again it is about 7F out there this
