I always unbolt the steering side where the engine plate meets the motor mount,
leaving the motor mount in place and pull the motor mount on the other side
attached to the engine.
2. pulling the tranny WITH the engine? if so, you want the front of the car
on jackstands... HIGHER than the back, to have room for the tranny to swing
down enough to get the angle you need to pull the whole works out.
It is easier to jack the rear of the car up and leave the front as low as you
can. You don't have to lift the engine as high that way. You still can tilt the
eng/trans assembly to get it to clear everything...
