Limited experience here, Ralph...
The 1098 is far more torquey than the
948, due I guess to it's relatively longer stroke rather than increased
HP.
The "10cc" with it's larger main bearings
is the stronger of the two 1098's produced
for the Spridget.
The clutches are a different size between
the 948/1098.
My current BE came with a 10cc engine.
While not a high revver, it pulled very
well to 5k or so. The exhaust note of the
longer stroke engine is far more silky
smooth than either the 948 or 1275. Same
in running. Very smooth engine.
